Why did you choose Carroll University?
I chose to attend Carroll because of the tight-knit community, successful nursing program, and generous financial aid.
How has financial aid impacted your college experience?
As the seventh of eleven children to single-income parents, financial aid is very important to me. While my father has always done his best to make every dollar count, providing for a family of thirteen means I must look elsewhere for help paying my college tuition. Financial aid means that I can go to a great school and focus on my academics rather than how I am going to afford to continue attending.
Did receiving financial aid impact your decision to attend Carroll?
Attending a great school like Carroll was a dream, but the financial aid is what made it a reality. The generous help from both private and government organizations is what has allowed me to attend Carroll for a price I can afford.
What will a college degree mean to you?
My six older brothers and sisters all continued their education to get college degrees, and I wanted to live up to their high standards. Besides a sense of accomplishment and financial security, a college degree means I can realize my dream of working as a nurse to better others’ lives during time of sickness and major life transitions.
Have you learned something during college you didn’t expect?
Every day of college has taught me something new, but I think the most significant thing I learned is that I should do something every day that will push me outside my comfort zone. By living out that simple idea, I have experienced and learned so much about myself and the world around me.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to work as a geriatric nurse in a nursing home, giving back to the community by providing high-quality care for its elderly.
